
Wendy Szakacs was born and raised in Liberty Township, Ohio, and has raised her own family there as well. She attended Youngstown State University where she received both a Bachelor and Master's degree in Special Education, with a focus in autism spectrum disorders. Through the years, Wendy sang at weddings, in school choirs, church choirs, and with friends who formed a band that sang at various functions. She also sang in musicals at Liberty High School and was in the chorus for the Kent State Summer Stock Production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Wendy has worked in the field of special education for 22 years in various capacities, including an instructor at an adult workshop, a teacher of students with orthopedic handicaps and multiple disabilities, a lead teacher of an autism unit, and an educational consultant for a county autism team. She is presently employed by the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI) as a regional coach specializing in autism and low incidence disabilities.
Wendy and her husband Michael have two children, boy and girl twins, who are in college. Her interests include exercising, reading, and spending time with her husband, children, family, and friends.
