Voices United Through Music
Our story began in 1952 with the founding of the Youngstown Community Chorus. Through the decades, the ensemble evolved into the Youngstown Symphony Chorus and later became the Stambaugh Chorus, carrying forward a proud tradition of choral excellence and community engagement.
For more than seven decades, Stambaugh Chorus has brought singers, musicians, and audiences together through the power of choral music.
Rooted in the Mahoning Valley, we celebrate great choral traditions while creating new opportunities for collaboration, education, community engagement, and service.

Today, under the direction of Dr. Hae-Jong Lee, Stambaugh Chorus brings together singers of varied ages, backgrounds, professions, and musical experiences. What unites us is the belief that singing together can create something larger than ourselves.
Music That Connects
Stambaugh Chorus presents a wide range of choral repertoire—from masterworks with orchestra to contemporary compositions, holiday favorites, music from diverse cultures,
and works that speak to important themes of our time.
Collaboration is central to our artistic mission. Through the years, the Chorus has joined voices with professional and community musicians, university ensembles, school choirs, orchestras, guest artists, and other regional arts organizations. These partnerships create opportunities for singers and audiences alike to experience ambitious choral works that can only come to life when a community works together.
Giving Voice to Our Community
Our mission extends beyond the concert stage.
Through community performances, educational partnerships, benefit concerts, and outreach activities, Stambaugh Chorus seeks to make choral music accessible and meaningful throughout the Mahoning Valley. Our singers have shared music with students, senior communities, churches, civic organizations, and audiences throughout the region.
Our Giving Voice to Peace concert series reflects this commitment especially strongly, bringing musicians of different generations and communities together to explore through music themes of peace, hope, unity, dignity, and our shared humanity.
